5 Places to Visit in London with Children
With London finally opening back up and summer quickly approaching, you may be considering a family trip into the capital. If you’re looking for fun filled days out that are family-friendly then look no further, below are our top 5 places to visit in London if you have children:
Buckingham Palace & Gardens
Buckingham Palace is a must for anyone’s first visit to London – it’s recognised around the world as the home of The Queen and the focus of national and royal celebrations. But for the first time this summer, not only can you see The Palace is all its glory, but visitors are also being given unique access this summer to Buckingham Palace Gardens where you can discover for yourself its sights before enjoying a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to picnic with views of the Palace. (How amazing is this?)
If you want to other Royal inspired locations to visit, we would also recommend The Queen’s Gallery and Windsor Castle if you’re willing to travel out of the city.
London Transport Museum
Fun for all the family, discover the history of London’s world-famous transport network at the London Transport Museum, which transports you through from the 1800s to present day. Explore buses, trains, trams and tube carriages whilst enjoying bus and tube simulator rides and interactive games and activities for all ages. With plenty of interactive kid’s workshops and activities on offer every school holiday, we would highly recommend this one to everyone if it’s your first visit to the city or even if you’re a resident yourself!
ZSL London Zoo
Another great day out guaranteed to keep your little ones entertained all day. Located in The Regents Park, one of the royal parks of London, it’s home to over 650 species of animals with trails and quizzes, you can have a spider selfie in Europe’s only walk-through spider experience (if you’re feeling brave). Visit Penguin Beach, Gorilla Kingdom, Rainforest Life, Tiger Territory and Land of the Lions – you’ll definitely want to get there early so don’t miss a thing.
Want to make your visit even more unforgettable? ZLS London Zoo also offer unique, hands-on experiences such as getting up close and personal with their charismatic gorilla troop or you can even become a Zoo Keeper for the whole day!
Royal Observatory & Planetarium
Greenwich Park offers amazing views over London, it’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the location of Greenwich Mean Time and in general a great family day out. As well as being home to the National Maritime Museum, it also hosts the Royal Observatory and Planetarium. Here you can join Royal Observatory astronomers and leading scientists on a fascinating journey into space, from planetarium shows and science sessions for kids to in-depth astronomy courses and community events – brilliant for all curious minds.
Sky Garden
The Sky Garden viewing gallery on the 43rd floor of the famous Walkie Talkie building offers panoramic views over the busy London centre from their foliage-filled atrium. With floor-to-ceiling glass windows, this incredible urban jungle provides fantastic views of the famous rooftops of London, with an open-air terrace providing views across the Thames. Tickets are completely free which is why we suggest you book far in advance.
