The Pepa London Guide to Easter Traditions

Easter is a time for dressing in your Sunday best, preparing delicious feasts, and crafting the perfect egg hunt. But with a two-week (or longer!) school holiday ahead, keeping little ones entertained can be a challenge. In this blog, we share traditional and wholesome Easter activities to bring joy to the whole family during this special season.

Send Easter Lilies

A simple way of letting someone dear know you are thinking of them is to send an Easter Lily - symbolic of purity and hope, Easter lilies are steeped in meaning in cultures around the world. This could be made into a fun activity by carefully wrapping the gift in brown paper, or making and writing easter cards to gift alongside the lily. Make a fun trip out of it and drive around to your loved one's homes to hand deliver the perfect Easter gift.

Decorate Ceramic Eggs

Get crafty with decorating ceramic eggs, a wonderful activity for the whole family. Make it a tradition to do each year, and soon enough your whole home will be decorated by beautiful painted eggs with special stories behind them. These could be passed down to future generations too, making this activity even more magical.

Wear your Sunday Best

Host an Egg-roll

An easy boredom-preventing game is an egg-roll. Set up a start and finish line, and provide each child with a wooden spoon or something similar. First to roll their egg through the finish line wins! This tradition started in the White House in the 1870s, and now every year on the Monday following Easter Sunday, the White House opens up the South Lawn to crowds of children and their parents for the annual Easter Egg Roll.

Attend an Easter Parade

Plenty of towns still host Easter parades which can be fun for all the family. Simply turn up and casually enjoy the festivities, or maybe you could make easter bonnets beforehand, to be crowned the best dressed in town. From the 29th March til the 21st April, embark in a captivating adventure at Hampton Court Palace as you explore the iconic gardens and discover the remarkable individuals who left their mark on Henry VIII’s home. Roam through lush gardens, keeping your eyes peeled for elusive Lindt Gold Bunny statues peeking out from colourful daffodils. Follow the trail and match the names of influential characters to the distinctive red ribbons adorning every adorable Lindt Gold Bunny Statue, with a gold bunny shaped sweet treat waiting for you at the end of the trail.
