Things to do and see with Children in London at Christmas

It’s almost time for the school holidays and our children are full of excitement for December 25th. To keep them going until the big day, celebrate the festive season in and around London and admire the creativity that this beautiful city has to offer. Discover our suggestions on how to entertain your little ones while they wait for the big day.

London’s Lit Up!
Whilst there are a host of exciting activities to organise with the kids at Christmas, one of our favourite (and free) things to do is to walk around central London in the late afternoon to early evening seeing the Christmas lights.

Take a stroll down Regent Street and look up and admire the magical lights. Breathe in the amazing creativity the street has to offer and just feel the magic in the air with the hanging angels and colours of blue and gold. Stroll onto Covent Garden and experience the daily snowfall. You’ll find flurries of man-made snow sprinkling the West and North Piazzas every hour from noon; the perfect way to guarantee a white Christmas and add a little extra magic for your little ones.

What is Christmas without visiting the Norwegian Tree in Trafalgar Square? Ensure to enjoy a wander with a hot chocolate in hand, with extra marshmallows (it is Christmas after all) and take in the monumental London tree! Stand back and admire the traditional British decorations and festivities.

Not forgetting a wonderful festive market. Take the little ones over to Southbank to find sweet wooden chalets selling home-made gifts and of course some tasty treats.

For a real taste of magic, make your way to Annabel's and admire their signature Christmas display. This year, the member's club have transformed into a giant gingerbread house where you can really feel the festive spirit. Enjoy a moment of luxury and experience true magic with the exquisite creativity and unique sight-seeing.

If you’re little ones aren’t up to walking then why not enjoy a ride on the London Eye. The perfect way to admire the cities creativity of all things festive and bright from above. Breathe in all the magic from a birds eye view and watch your children light up with excitement and joy.

Skate around the city!
Ice skating is a perfect activity to take your little ones to in December. Head to Somerset House for a beautiful setting and watch your children learn on their own or with the help of a little push-along penguin! Or for something a little grander, head to the Natural History Museum to skate around the beautiful large Christmas Tree and feel the magic of Christmas.”
